Bev (Leach) MacKay

Wyckoff’s own Bev Mackay was a standout two-sport athlete at Ramapo, earning three varsity letters for tennis and four for softball. During Bev’s four years as a member of the girl’s tennis team, their overall record was 91- 3 and her solid play on the court netted her First Team All-League and First Team All-County honors and captaincy in her Junior and Senior years. Over the course of her four years playing softball for the Raiders, Bev accrued First Team All-League, First Team All-County, First Team All-State, and First Team All-Suburban honors as well as being named Athlete of the Week, and serving as Captain in her Senior year. In Bev's senior year, Ramapo won its first County and State Championship. Bev drove in the only and winning run in the State finals and was the winning pitcher in a 1-0 game. For her overall impact on Bergen County athletics, Bev was also named as a Bergen County Athlete of the Decade for the 1970’s.

After Ramapo, Bev attended the University of North Carolina, but, since college was still playing slow pitch at the time, did not play for the school. Bev did, however, play “Select Amateur” summer ball.

Bev currently resides in Wyckoff with her husband, Bob, and daughters Jen (22), Cate (21), and Kerri (19). Bev is currently serving as the Ramapo-Indian Hills District Coordinator of Student Personnel Services and enjoys reading and traveling with family in her spare time.
