Jack Kleinert Class of 1977 Football Basketball Tennis An 11 letter winner, Jack Kleinert, class of 1977, excelled in tennis, basketball and football. In his senior year, he had the distinction of being named Captain of all three sports. In football, Jack was a four-year starter at linebacker, tight end and fullback. In 1974 he was selected The Ridgewood News Sophomore of the Year and he led Ramapo to their first-ever State Championship. For his achievements, Jack was selected All-League his junior and senior year, All-County and All-State his senior year. Also that year he was 1 of 100 high school players in the country selected to the All-American Team. On the basketball court Jack was a three-year starter and also was named The Ridgewood News Sophomore of the Year for that sport in 1974-1975. With Jack leading the way, Ramapo won back-to-back League Championships. Jack was selected All-County his senior year. As a four-year varsity tennis player, Jack was a starter fall four years. During those four years, Jack helped Ramapo win 4 League Titles, as well as the State Championship his freshman year and the State Sectional Championship his senior year. Jack was elected Captain his junior and senior year. Jack won All-League honors for three years and his senior year was named All-County and All-State. Jack went on to Princeton University where he played linebacker on the Tigers football team. Graduating from Princeton in 1981, Jack began playing platform tennis and became National Singles Champion in 1989, and was ranked number 2 in the nation in doubles in 1988, 1989 and 1990. Jack still lives in Franklin Lakes with his wife and former Ramapo graduate herself Jane and four children, Katie, Carly, John and Kelly, all whom have been involved in athletics at Ramapo. A retired partner from Goldman Sachs, Jack is currently CEO of Velocity Management Inc.
