Paul Granatell

A 1985 Ramapo graduate, Paul earned seven varsity letters as a Raider: three each for football and baseball and one for basketball. On the gridiron, Paul didn’t just play “both ways”, he played all ways: quarterback, safety, place kicker, and punter. He set school records at the time in career interceptions (12), PATs (27), total points scored (99), and field goals in a season (8), which was also a Bergen County record. In 1983 Paul was the starting safety for the State Championship team; in his senior year he threw for over 1200 yards and 11 touchdowns. For his efforts, Paul received First-Team All-League honors in both his junior and senior year, First-Team All-County in his senior year, and was named the Ramapo Male Athlete of the Year for 1985. Equally as accomplished in baseball, Paul played both pitcher and outfielder. He had a fielding average of .971 and committed only three errors in his career. He had a career high batting average of .425 (senior year) and a career average of .390. He received First-Team All-League honors both junior and senior year.

After Ramapo Paul was off to the University of Rhode Island, where he continued with athletics, playing two years of football and three years of baseball.

Paul is now a Vice President with Grant Industries in Elwood Park.
