A 1997 Ramapo graduate, Cortney was a standout soccer, basketball, and softball player for the Raiders, earning three letters each for soccer and basketball and four for softball. As a soccer player, Cortney earned First Team All-League, First Team All-County, and First Team All-State honors, and was named to the Senior All-Star team. Cortney captained the 1996 undefeated (26-0) soccer team that won the league, county, sectional, and group titles and was ranked number one in the nation by USA Today. She also played for the Wyckoff Torpedoes (1986-1998) and the Olympic Development Team (1996, 1997). On the hardwood, Cortney was Honorable Mentioned (96-97) and served as Captain in 1997. During her four years of softball, Cortney earned First Team All-League honors twice (96, 97) and Second Team All-County (1997). For her multi-sport accomplishments, Cortney was named the Bergen County Female Athlete of the Year in 1996 and also the Ramapo Female Athlete of the Year in 1996.

After Ramapo, Cortney continued playing soccer at the College of New Jersey where she was a four-year varsity letter earner. In 1997 she won the Coaches Award, then, in 2000, she was named to the NJAC All-Star team, was named the Star Ledger College Player of the Week, and earned NJAC First Team All-Conference honors, Regional All-American honors, NCSAA All-American honors, and won a NCAA Division III National Championship. After her time at TCNJ, Cortney earned a Master’s in Science Technology Education and currently works as a 7th grade Science Teacher in Mahwah. Keeping the Ramapo/Glaubach coaching tradition alive, (her father Marv is a football coach at Ramapo) Cortney coaches the girl’s freshman soccer and lacrosse teams. In her spare time, Cortney does charity work with the Susan G.
