Class of 1992
Soccer
Basketball

Graduating in 1992, Dave Fitzmaurice is another in a long line of those great Ramapo soccer players. His greatness was in his ability as a team leader on the high school as well as the college and professional level.

A two-sport star at Ramapo, Dave won two varsity letters in basketball and was a member of the Group 3 North I State Sectional Championship team. Dave excelled at the point guard position where he used his great court vision and leadership abilities to run the offense.

As a 4-year varsity letter winner in soccer, Dave ran the offense. From the midfield position, he scored 23 goals and 30 assists for his career. He was awarded 1st Team All-League three years running as well as twice being named All-County. In his senior year he was awarded All-State as well as the NJ State Player of the Year in addition to winning The Coggin Memorial Award as the outstanding NJ High School Boy’s Soccer Player. He culminated that by being named an NSCAA 1st Team All-American. His 1992 team won the Group 3 State Champion.

At the University of Virginia, Dave led the Cavaliers to the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship four times and three times as Division I National Champions. Besides winning three varsity letters he won the Coaches Award his sophomore year. In his senior year, Dave was awarded the Stanley M. Lerner Memorial trophy. The wording on the trophy reads, “To the athlete who exemplified the highest quality of leadership, cooperative spirit, and unselfish service in the interest of athletes at the University of Virginia.

Upon his completion at the University of Virginia, Dave continued his soccer career for the North Jersey Imperials, a minor league for the NY/NJ Metrostars.

Dave is married to Jeannine Langbein, also a Ramapo graduate. They live in Wyckoff and are expecting their first child in May. He expects to complete his MBA from Rutgers University shortly, and still finds time to coach youth soccer for the Wyckoff Torpedoes Club.
