Coach Chris Cauda

Coach Cauda graduated from Ocean Township High School—where she was a two-sport athlete in Field Hockey and Track—in 1967, then from Montclair State—where she was a varsity track athlete—in 1971. Chris was a Health and Physical Education teacher in the Haledon public school system, but did her coaching here at Ramapo, serving as the Raider Gymnastics coach for 16 years and also as an assistant coach for both indoor and outdoor track for five years.

During her tenure as Ramapo gymnastics coach, 1986-2001, Chris amassed a record of 88 wins and 62 losses, won three NBIAL titles (1987, 1988, 1992) won two county titles (1986, 1987), and one Bergen County Invitational Championship. During these sixteen years, Coach Cauda’s teams qualified for the State Sectional championships 14 times. Her fellow coaches voted her Coach of the Year three times (1988, 1990, and 1999). In 1994, the Greater Bergen YWCA honored Chris with the Service to Youth Award and in 2001 she was inducted into the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Chris has been married to Mike—a longtime Ramapo teacher and coach—for 39 years and has three children, Michael (38), Alicia (33), and Dana (26), all of whom attended Ramapo and participated in athletics. She also has four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Emily, Ella, and Ava. Recently retired from teaching, Chris now looks forward to spending more time at Grace Church as the Director of Christian Education Ministries, with her grandchildren, reading, and swimming.
