Bob Dennis

At Ramapo, basketball was Bob Dennis’ first love—and was he good at it. The 1966 graduate holds the distinction of being Ramapo’s first ever 1000 point scorer.

However, Bob’s career went well beyond that milestone; he also led the Raiders in scoring, averaging more than 25 points per game, broke all Ramapo scoring records, set the single game scoring record, and set the career scoring record at that time. It is no wonder The Ridgewood News labeled him, “Dennis the Menace- Ramapo Style”. Coach Hal Corizzi said that, up to that time, he was the finest player ever to play for him. For his efforts, Bob was named All-Suburban News, All-League (three years), All-County (two years), and All-State his senior year.

Bob won one varsity letter in baseball at Ramapo and was good enough to extend his career in that sport to the college level also.

Bob continued both sports at George Washington University. As a freshman, he led the Colonials in scoring with a 21.0 point average and was an 86% free throw shooter; in his sophomore year, he led the nation in free throw shooting; in baseball, he was named All-Southern Conference shortstop in his senior year.
Today, Bob is a physical therapist and an ordained Minister of the Gospel. As a minister, he preaches, teaches and does counseling. He and his wife of 37 years, Beth, have two children: their son Elliot, 32, and their daughter Christie, 30. They also have four grandchildren. The Dennis’ reside in Stafford, Virginia. Bob credits God for his skills, success and athletic ability.
